Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge is proud to be joining with the Lake Norman Chamber of Commerce in supporting Our Towns Habitat for Humanity.
Lake Norman Chrysler will be making a cash donation as well as
participating in a volunteer day to assist with building a home for a
deserving local family--Mia Patterson and her two young children. The
average cost of a build is $71,500. Wells Fargo has contributed $30,000
up front and will match $1000 donations up to an additional $20,000.
Groundbreaking
is scheduled for March 10th and fundraising is still in progress, as
the full amount must be raised before the project can begin. Ms.
Patterson, a single mother of two, has signed partnership papers with
Habitat and will ultimately own the house, planned for a site on Poole
Place off Bailey Road in Cornelius. If all goes according to plan, Ms.
Patterson and her daughter, Tamya, 8, and son, TJ, 5, should be able to
move in this summer.

Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Donates a "Durango-Full" of Toys to Barium Springs
If you were at Northlake Mall anytime from Black Friday through December 9th, you might have seen a 2012 Dodge Durango stuffed with
toys in the Macy's Court. Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram bought
enough toys to fill the Durango and shoppers were invited to "Guess How
Many Toys" were inside. The winner of the contest will receive a $250
Northlake Mall Gift card but the real winners will be the kids at the
Barium Springs Home for Children, where all the toys were delivered on
December 15th.
The toys will be wrapped and delivered to the children that Barium
Springs serves, which include 40 on campus and 400 in the local
community. Unfortunately, Barium Springs has been affected by the
economy, much like other local businesses and non-profit organizations.
The staff at Lake Norman Chrysler had a great time selecting the toys
and imagining the happy face s of all the kids when they open them. If you'd like more information about Barium Springs, you can visit their website at: www.bariumsprings.org
If
you missed participating in our contest at Northlake Mall, you can
still take a guess at how many toys were in the Durango and win a free
oil change! Just visit our Facebook Page www.facebook.com/lakenormanchryslerjeepdodge to enter. Deadline is Monday, December 19th.
Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram is proud to sponsor the SwimMAC Open Water Series!
Wednesday, May 4th, the Senior division kicked off the Open Water Wednesday series at beautiful Latta Plantation. Though it was a cool day, sunshine and hard exercise kept the swimmers warm! The swimmers were excited to participate in the first open water swim since last summer. As the coaches explained to the Senior swimmers, Open Water Wednesdays will provide a great chance for kids to get aerobic training in a new environment. Open water provides an opportunity for swimmers to work on distance per stroke, rhythm, stroke balance, and continuous kicks without the interruption of turns. For those who want to pursue open water racing, this is a great chance to get some practice.
SwimMAC and Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram are excited for the upcoming open water season. Congratulations to the Senior Division for a great start to the summer!
Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram Sponsors Guns vs. Hoses Charity Softball Game
The Cornelius Police Department Guns beat the reigning champions the Cornelius Fire Department Hoses, 20-13 in their third annual charity softball game. The firefighters had been enjoying a two year winning streak and were expected to win but the Guns stole an early lead and maintained it throughout the game. Money raised from the game benefited the Veterans Memorial Monument in Cornelius, NC. The total amount raised was approximately $2000. We look forward to seeing whether the Guns or the Hoses take the win in the next showdown.
Big Fun at Big Day at the Lake 6!
Lake Norman Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram was proud to be a sponsor of Big Day at the Lake for the sixth consecutive year. 145 kids in Big Brothers Big Sisters got out on Lake Norman, many of them for the first time, for a full day of fun. It was a great experience for both volunteers and participants and we're looking forward to Big Day at the Lake 7!
14 5 Big Brothers Big Sisters matches were hosted on 85 boats for a morning of fun on Lake Norman before heading to the Duke Energy Explorium for a picnic and games.
Eighty-five "Boat Hosts" took the kids out starting at 9:45 a.m. for swimming, tubing, fishing and all-around fun. The event is highly dispersed. (The internet helps match up the "Bigs" and "Littles" with their hosts in Cornelius so they met up anywhere on Lake Norman, including boat ramps, marinas and private homes.)
"We got a lot of air out there," said Quincy, an 8-year-old who took to a tube with his new Big Brother Nikolai Kruger, a Charlotte banker who grew up in The Peninsula. A non-swimmer, Quincy held tight to his life jacket and a foam noodle ? it was his first time in the lake, not to mention a fast boat. Quincy and Christian, a 9-year-old whose Big Brother is Edward Smith, is based at J.V. Washam Elementary School, swam and played catch with a dozen other Littles gathered at an island off Shearwater Point, alternately tubing and visiting other boats. At 1:30 p.m., 550 Bigs, Littles, Boat Hosts and Cornelius familes moved to Duke's Energy Explorium for a picnic complete with hot dogs, pizza, salad and cookies.

Thank you to all the volunteers and participants in our first annual Dog Wash Fundraiser!
Dogs
of all shapes and sizes...Dachshunds to Great Danes...came out to join
the fun at the first Lake Norman Chrysler Dog Wash Fundraiser! The
kitties came out and joined the fun....away from the water, of course,
but available for adoption. There was plenty of laughs, a few woofs,
and a good soaking for most of the volunteers, which was appreciated in
the 90-degree-plus heat! The humans were
treated to a free spinal screening by Ballas Chiropractic, who donates
back to Friends for Life for every new client they receive that
presents a special coupon from the rescue group. Free lunch was
provided to volunteers and participants to keep everyone's energy up
and treats were available for everyone's four-legged friends.
All
proceeds benefited Friends for Life LKN and Catering to Cats and Dogs.
Funds will help with care and maintenance of foster animals, low cost
spay neuter, and any necessary medical care. We are all looking forward
to the next Dog Wash, tentatively scheduled for September.
Thank you to all our volunteers and for all our canine, feline and human friends that came out to participate!

Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge joins the race to save animals with the Greg Biffle Foundation!
Local business owners will be racing to save local animals against
NASCAR driver Greg Biffle We invite everyone to come out and cheer for
Jack Salzman, owner of Lake Norman Chrysler Jeep Dodge, as he takes
Greg on in a race challenge! All proceeds will benefit the Cornelius
Animal Shelter. The race will be located at the Aquesta Bank Headquarters in Cornelius.
After beginning as a temporary facility made up of a few cages and
dog runs covered by tarps and sheltered by straw bales, the Cornelius
Animal Shelter has recently opened as a new 3,265-square-foot facility.
The new shelter offers a safe, climate-controlled environment for not
only the animals but also the volunteers. Today, the shelter and it's
100-plus regular volunteers maintain a euthanasia rate of about 7
percent, while similar public shelters throughout North Carolina
maintain a 70-plus percent euthanasia rate. For the majority of 2009,
before the new facility opened the shelter averaged about 21 adoptions
a month. Now with an extended volunteer force, expanded hours and
increased awareness and publicity, the shelter is averaging about 46
adoptions per month. A considerable amount of hard work and
monetary/in-kind donations have created the foundation for a truly
successful public shelter. The public has, overall, been receptive and
supportive, but the job has just begun. The Cornelius Animal Shelter
offers opportunities to help in a number of ways.
- Donate or Sponsor - animal wellness program for veterinary care, grooming, and to keep the lights on and the bowls full!
- Buy a Brick or Magnet - engraved patio bricks are available, as well as car magnets
- Volunteer - for activities needing to be done regularly at the shelter
- Foster
- many animals do better in a home environment than a shelter, but
puppies, animals requiring medication, dogs needing training and
animals needing socializing especially need foster homes
- Shopping - check with your favorite pet stores to see if they donate a percentage of sales to the Cornelius Animal Shelter
- And of course, ADOPT!!

sponsor Big Day at the Lake
Our staff is always happy to be a part of
this worthwhile event
during which local boat owners take Big Brothers/Big Sisters and their

activities. There is also a cookout, with food donated by local
restaurants, and a variety of kids' activities including bouncers, water
balloons, bubbles, and contests. As you can see below, Lake Norman
Chrysler Jeep Dodge owners Jack & Robin Salzman actively participate
in the fun!
