Dodge Charger is Named
2012 Automobile Magazine "All Star"!

"We were impressed at how much more refined the 2012 Charger is from its previous generation. The interior is sophisticated, the exterior design is striking, and it is thrilling to drive. The Charger definitely earned its place on this very exclusive All-Star list."

--Jean Jennings, president and editor-in-chief of Automobile Magazine

Automobile Magazine was impressed by the new 2012 Dodge Charger! Check out these highlights:

"The new Charger is more polished in style and execution..." "Just because the Charger is now available with highfalutin options like an eight- speed automatic transmission and a Nappa leather interior doesn't mean that it has forgotten its role as the quintessential un-front-wheel- drive mainstream American sedan."

"The Charger is a big car for big people who like big power. With the new Pentastar V-6 as the base engine, you're getting 292 hp. Hooked to the optional eight-speed automatic, the V-6 shoves this battleship to a 31-mpg highway rating. Want all-wheel drive? You can get it. Want 0 to 60 mph in less than five seconds? You can have that, too, with the SRT8. But at $30,820, the 370-hp R/T is the sweet spot. You know you're getting a lot of car for the money when the closest competition is a two-year-old Hyundai Genesis."

"You can't even complain about the interior anymore. That big piece of aluminum-looking trim around the gauges is an actual hunk of aluminum. Another telling detail: the A-, B-, and C-pillars are upholstered in fabric, which doesn't sound like a big deal but is one of the many small signifiers that Chrysler cared about getting this car right."

"Chargers are all over the place. We're used to them. But every now and then ? like now ? we need to take a step back and celebrate the fact that Dodge still makes a car like this. Because nobody else does."

Other Dodge Charger Highlights:
  • Dodge Charger is the first domestic sport sedan to feature the state-of-the-art eight-speed automatic transmission
  • New Dodge Charger models with eight-speed automatic transmission deliver refinement, improved performance ?and best-in-class 31 miles per gallon (mpg) highway

Consumer Reports is Wowed by 2011 Chrysler 300

"A worthy flagship of the Chrysler brand."
"A convincing luxury car."
"By far the best Chrysler we've tested in years."

2011 Dodge Challenger, 2011 Dodge Durango and 2011 Dodge Charger Win J.D. Power & Associates Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) Award

The Dodge brand earned three awards as the Dodge Challenger, Charger and Durango led their segments in the J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Automotive Performance, Execution and Layout (APEAL) StudySM.

The Dodge Charger ranked highest in the Large Car segment and was the most improved model in the industry. The Dodge Challenger scored highest in the Midsize Sporty Car class and Dodge Durango took the top spot in the Midsize Crossover/SUV segment.

The Jeep® brand improved by 32 points and Chrysler increased by 27 points compared to the industry's average improvement of three points.

"We've listened to our customers and made significant improvements across the product line, launching 16 all-new or extensively updated vehicles in the past year," said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President?Quality, Chrysler Group. "We worked very hard to make our vehicles truly competitive with the best vehicles in their respective segments. It's nice to see this effort being recognized by our customers."

According to J.D. Power and Associates, vehicles with high APEAL scores generate faster sales, higher profit margins, and less need for cash incentives. High levels of vehicle appeal also influence customer recommendation rates.

In the recently announced J.D. Power and Associates 2011 Initial Quality Study SM (IQS), the Dodge Challenger and the Chrysler Town & Country ranked highest in their respective segments for initial quality.

The APEAL Study examines how gratifying a new vehicle is to own and drive, based on owner evaluations of more than 80 vehicle attributes. Unlike IQS, which measures short-term quality, the APEAL Study identifies consumer likes and dislikes about their vehicle during the first 90 days of ownership, particularly regarding vehicle design, content, layout and performance.

"Different customers have different opinions about what makes a quality vehicle," Betts explained. "At Chrysler Group, we define and measure six different types of quality. We've set aggressive internal targets and our progress is starting to show up in third-party surveys as well."

2011 Dodge Durango Named Top Safety Pick by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS)

The all-new 2011 Dodge Durango offers consumers 45 safety and security features, including standard Electronic Stability Control (ESC), which delivers three security featueres to improve overall vehicle stability both on- and off-road: electronic roll mitigation (ERM), which reacts and applies brakes during extreme situtations, and Hill-Start Assist (HSA), which works with standard Trailer-Sway Control (TSC) to enhance off-road and towing capabilities.

Other saftey and security features available on the 2011 Dodge Durango include Blind Spot Monitoring (BSM) and Rear Cross Path (RCP) detection, which aid drivers when they're changing lanes or parking. In addition, Durango features standard seat-mounted and side-curtain air bags in the front row. The curtain air bag extends protection to second- and third-row passengers. Durango also includes standard front-row active head restraints. Additionally, driver can remotely lower third row headrests to enhance rear visibility when the seats are not occupied.

"The Durango is the eighth vehicle from Chrysler to earn the Institute's highest safety honor," said IIHS president Adrian Lund. "The performance of the Durango means buyers are getting the best protection in the most common kinds of crashes, and electronic stability control for avoiding many crashes altogether."

U.S. News & World Report Names
2011 Dodge Ram the #1 Truck!

U.S. News & World Report has named the 2011 Ram 1500 the best full-size pickup. In the magazine's ranking of top vehicle choices, Ram 1500 scored the highest among the eight full-size pickups available to U.S. buyers. The rankings are based on an in-depth analysis by U.S. News editors of all published vehicle ratings, reviews and test drives.

Ram drew praise for its interior comfort, class-leading handling and HEMI V-8 performance. "The 2011 Ram 1500's smooth, car-like ride, well-designed and comfortable interior and powerful V-8 engine make it a top pick in its class," said the U.S. News editors. "When Ram's designers updated the Ram 1500 for 2011, they managed to make improvements to an already-impressive truck," the magazine went on to say. "The result is a full-size pickup truck that many in the auto press say is the best in its class.

"Reviewers love the Ram 1500's ride, handling, power and interior, even on less expensive trim levels. The Ram 1500 offers many convenient cargo solutions, such as storage cubbies underneath the rear seats on Crew Cab models. Other models offer the RamBox, lockable storage containers built into the truck bed above the wheel housings."

The magazine cited numerous other third-party accolades in naming the Ram 1500 the best full-size pickup:

"The Ram 1500's interior is as good as it gets in the pickup segment. The available V-8s are impressive performers, the chassis is well suited to heavy work and the Ram's cabin is a class leader in terms of design, ergonomics and materials." - Edmunds.com

"When towing various size trailers on a short loop, the HEMI-powered Ram acted as if nothing was attached to the rear. It just chugged along, getting up to 60 mph with ease, even with a 9,000-pound Air Stream attached on a simple hitch. There are lots of nooks and crannies (more than 40) to hold cell phones, gloves, tools, folders and just about anything else. There are even two floor storage bins that include removable containers for easy cleaning." -- Detroit News

"Storage spaces abound: under the rear seats, in the doors, the center console, and the dual glove boxes; and with the new drainable, lockable 'RamBox' bins in the bed walls." -- Car and Driver

2011 Chrysler Town & County and 2011 Dodge Challenger Earn Awards for Initial Quality from J.D. Power & Associates

The 2011 Chrysler Town & Country ranked highest in initial quality in the minivan segment and the 2011 Dodge Challenger ranked highest in the mid-size sporty car segment.

Three other Chrysler Group vehicles were highlighted by J.D. Power and Associates for ranking among the top three vehicles of their competitive class: Dodge Durango in the mid-size crossover/SUV category, Dodge Grand Caravan in the minivan category and Ram Dakota in the mid-size pickup segment.

"Having five vehicles rank at or near the top of their segments is the result of a lot of hard work and long hours dedicated to updating our product line," said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President -- Quality, Chrysler Group. "Most automakers, including Chrysler Group, find it challenging to maintain quality levels when launching vehicles with a significant amount of new content. It's a big accomplishment for our employees and supplier partners to achieve these initial quality results when so many of our 2011 model year launches coincided with the IQS survey period."

J.D. Power and Associates surveyed owners of new 2011 model year vehicles that were registered between the months of November 2010 through February 2011. IQS measures new vehicle quality at 90 days of ownership.
In the past year, Chrysler Group has launched 16 new or significantly improved vehicles.

"We've made steady gains, improving reliability by 58 percent in the past four years, according to our internal warranty data," Betts said. "We still have more work to do as we continue to improve the quality of all our products."

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee is
The Northwest's New Winner

As explained by Jeffrey Zurschmeide, president of the Northwest Automotive Press Association (NWAPA), his part of the country presents a tough challenge for most SUVs: "In the Pacific Northwest, we can go from rain-soaked city streets up to the snowy mountains in about an hour. -- So we look for an SUV that's comfortable and capable in all kinds of situations."

And that's exactly what they found in the new 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee , "overwhelmingly" choosing it as this year's "Northwest Sport Utility of the Year" while also naming Jeep's flagship their "Best Off-Road SUV," too.

It's a particularly notable honor, because NWAPA members don't try to base their decisions on separate test drives that might have occurred weeks or months in the past. Instead, the group brought 20 of today's top SUVs and crossovers to Snoqualmie, Wash., for a grueling one-day evaluation of the vehicles' hill-climbing and descent abilities, ride comfort, low-range handling, stability handling, emergency braking maneuvers and more--all areas in which the new Grand Cherokee excels, thanks to its comprehensive redesign for the current model year. Today's Grand Cherokee offers three 4×4 systems, the new Jeep Selec-Terrain system with five different terrain settings, an advanced air-suspension system, improved fuel economy, a world-class interior, and more than 45 safety and security features, and it's all wrapped up by eye-catching new sheet metal.

"The Pacific Northwest provides perhaps the widest variety of driving conditions in the country, so it's a perfect place for all of the driving attributes of the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee," said Mike Manley, president and CEO of Jeep. "We're especially pleased that the NWAPA's journalist members recognize Grand Cherokee's comfort and capability in all weather conditions, both on- and off-road.

New 2011 Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger Top Safety Picks by Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

Auburn Hills, Mich., Jan. 27, 2011 - Two new Chrysler Group LLC vehicles, the 2011 Chrysler 300 and the 2011 Dodge Charger, have been named Top Safety Picks for 2011 by the insurance institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), marking the first time both vehicles have achieved the highest ratings.

IIHS recognizes vehicles with outstanding crashworthiness in front, side, rollover and rear crashes. The new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger both received 'good' ratings, the highest achievable, in all four categories.

The new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger join five other chrysler Group LLC vehicles that were named Top Safety Picks by the IIHS in December. Dodge Avenger and Journey, Jeep Grand Cherokee and Patriot, when equipped with optional side airbags, and the Chrysler 200 were recognized for superior crashworthiness.

To be considered, vehicles must have available electronic stability control (ESC) systems that significantly reduce crash risks. Both the Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger have standard ESC. Other standard safety features including full length side curtain airbags, seat-mounted side thorax air bags, driver's knee bag, front-row reactive head restraints, Hill Start Assist, Rain Brake Support and Ready Alert Braking.

"With the addition of the new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger, Chrysler Group now has seven Top Safety Picks in the 2011 model year. "As we continue our product transformation, we'll continue to engineer safety leadership and more capabilities into all our vehicles."

Both the new Chrysler 300 and Dodge Charger employ a two-fold approach to safety with active safety items, such as electronic stability control and anti-lock brakes, as well as passive safety features, including head restraints for front seat occupants and supplemental side-curtain or side seat airbags.

"Automakers deserve credit for quickly rising to meet more challenging criteria for Top Safety Pick," says Adrian Lund, the Institute's president. "That gives consumers shopping for a safer new car or SUV - from economy to luxury - plenty of choices to consider when they visit a dealer showroom."

2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee Named
"Best of the Best" by AutoWeek!

-- Published on 1/06/2011

Here's what they had to say...

Trucks are an extremely passion-inspiring and sometimes divisive subject at AutoWeek. We all have our preferences and tastes, and few vehicles are versatile yet distinctive enough to please our discerning editors. But this year, one stood out above all others for our first Best of the Best/Truck award: the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee.

Perhaps no single vehicle symbolizes the reborn Chrysler more than this off-roader. It's capable, it builds on the long-held strength of the iconic brand, and in a new twist, it's downright luxurious. Our staff gave it consistent high marks for the interior, which has been redone with pleasing soft-touch materials yet still exudes a rugged demeanor.

The Grand Cherokee maintains its familiar appearance on the outside--it's still obviously the flagship Jeep--but now it's more sculpted on the sides and chiseled around the wheels. With a clearly evolutionary design, this new rock crawler looks similar to but sharper than its predecessors and stands out in the street.

Underhood, the Grand Cherokee is fortified with the Pentastar 3.6-liter V6 making 290 hp and 260 lb-ft of torque. Angrier drivers can opt for the Hemi V8, which displaces 5.7 liters to the tune of 360 hp and 390 lb-ft, and not be disappointed.

For all of its power and luxury, this vehicle still hangs its hat on ability, which it has in spades. There are three four-wheel-drive options, and in low gear, the beast is nearly unstoppable. For the first time, the Grand Cherokee gets an independent rear suspension, and drive character is reinforced with a body that's 145 percent stiffer than its predecessor and has more responsive steering. The Jeep rides on a platform similar to that of the Mercedes-Benz M-class, one of the last vestiges of Chrysler's association with Daimler to make it to the road.

We ranked vehicles on a scale of one to five, with five being the highest. The design elements of the Grand Cherokee in particular scored high, and many editors drooled over the power and capability. The foibles of lesser trucks didn't stand up to our screening, but perfect-five ratings were common for the Jeep in many categories.

The Grand Cherokee is clearly a gem of a vehicle, and with a base price of $30,995 and top-shelf models stickering for more than $40,000, there's a choice for almost everyone. The Grand Cherokee--the most well-rounded, handsome and brutally capable Jeep in years--won the top prize. This might be a harbinger of things to come from the new Chrysler.

Ram Trucks Named "Manufacturer of the Year"
for 2010 by Off-Road Adventures

Today, the new 2011 Ram
carries forward this legacy of innovative upgrades, one that the editor and writers of Off-Road Adventures recognize as a significant achievement in truck design and engineering. In keeping with this recognition, the Ram brand now stands on its own four wheels, in order to distinguish it further from Dodge cars, and Chrysler and Jeep brand vehicles. Even so, Ram CEO Fred Diaz, Jr. says the Ram will always have the Dodge emblem inside and outside. So why make the change? "Creating a stand-alone brand for Ram trucks has allowed us to concentrate on how our core customers are using their trucks and what new features they"d like to see," notes Diaz.

Getting down to the details, the Ram Truck models range from the 1/2 ton, 1500 to heavy-duty 2500/3500 pickups to commercial-grade Chassis Cab trucks (3500, 4500, and 5500). The Ram brand has one of the most innovative lineups of full-size pickups on the market, and has emerged as a full-size truck leader by infusing them with great looks, refined interiors, and durable engines. Speaking of engines, Ram trucks in general are available with a wide range of engines. Fittingly, though, for the 2500/3500 Heavy Duty models, only the strongest two engines are offered: the legendary 390 hp, 5.7-liter HEMI V-8 engine or the torquey 6.7-liter Cummins Turbo Diesel, rated at 650 lb/ft and 350 hp. These proven powertrains are well known for their reliability -- the Cummins Turbo Diesel has major overhaul intervals of 350,000 miles. Recall that Ram and Cummins have worked shoulder-to-shoulder for more than 20 years, delivering billions of miles of customer satisfaction. Cummins-equipped Ram trucks exceeding 300,000 miles are common, with some even surpassing the one-million mark!

No surprise, then, that all Ram Truck engines, transmissions and axles are covered by a segment-leading, five-year, 100,000-mile powertrain warranty. Ram trucks now boast other segment exclusives as well, such as a coil-spring rear suspension on the Ram 1500 for best-in-class ride and handling, optional RamBox lockable and lighted bedside storage, in-floor storage on all Ram crew cabs and the largest cab in the market, the Ram HD Mega Cab. Another new Ram truck model is Outdoorsman that combines features useful to hunters, fishermen, campers and boaters. It includes convenience, off-road capability and trailer towing hardware all in one package. And for going from the dirt to downtown, there"s the new Laramie Longhorn Edition, the most luxurious Ram Truck ever, loaded with leather and wood trim. To customize the Ram even further for off-road adventuring, Dealer Services International (DSI) works with top Ram dealers to provide various upgrades that can be included in the financing of the vehicle.

Ram 1500 Named 2011
AUTOMOBILE Magazine 'All-Star'

by Mike Driehorst

For the second year in a row, the Ram 1500 was honored by AUTOMOBILE Magazine and named a 2011 AUTOMOBILE Magazine All-Star.

"The Ram 1500 scored its second All-Star award in two years by combining a tough-truck soul with the creature comforts of a large family sedan," the editors said. "The Ram's cabin excels in attention to detail. Instruments are clearly marked, and the cup holders and storage locations are bountiful. Crew cabs have in-floor bins, and the handy RamBox option converts normally wasted bed-sidewall space into secure storage lockers."

Both Ford and GM pickups were included in the AUTOMOBILE Magazine tests.

According to the review by AUTOMOBILE Magazine Technical Editor Don Sherman:

Like most pickup-truck owners, we've spent the majority of our miles in Rams without cargo in the bed or a trailer in tow. The beauty of this beast is its ability to fly over tattered pavement without the wonky humping and jumping that plagues leaf-spring trucks. Add the 390-hp, 5.7-liter Hemi V-8 engine, and the Ram performs a superhero routine.

Since its introduction in 2008 as an all-new 2009 model, the Ram 1500 has won dozens of major automotive awards, including many of the industry's most significant honors such as Strategic Vision's Total Quality Award (the highest Total Quality score of any truck in the 15-year history of the study) and the Texas Auto Writers Association Truck of Texas. It remains the most awarded Ram Truck ever.

In 2011, the Ram Truck brand continues to build on the Ram 1500. The Ram Laramie Longhorn edition and Ram Outdoorsman (pictured) are the newest members of the Ram truck family and offer their own unique features.

The all-new 2011 Jeep® Grand Cherokee -- the premium icon of the Jeep brand -- has captured the prestigious "Four Wheeler of the Year" award. The award is given annually by the editors of Four Wheeler magazine -- a leading off-road enthusiast publication.

"The Grand Cherokee continues Jeep's tradition of building four-wheel drives that excel in harsh backcountry traditions," said Four Wheeler Editor Douglas McColloch. "The 5.7-liter V-8 offers ample horsepower throughout the power band; its tightly tuned unibody chassis and four-wheel independent suspension give it a sporty on-road ride; and the Jeep's new Selec-Terrain™ off-road driving mode and class-leading Hill-descent systems virtually eliminate guesswork when crawling through uneven and off-camber terrain. It's the most street-tuned, pavement-friendly version of this vehicle ever built. Overall, it's a highly deserving "Four Wheeler of the Year" winner for 2011."

To qualify for the competition, entries had to be entirely new or have substantial mechanical revisions from a previous model year. Testing was conducted over more than a thousand miles on a variety of terrain, including pavement, gravel, dirt, sand, rocks and mud, at elevations ranging from sea level to more than 9,000 feet.

"Capturing this prominent award from the respected editors at Four Wheeler magazine is a true honor and significant milestone for the Jeep brand and the all-new 2011 Grand Cherokee," said Mike Manley, President and CEO -- Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. The study summarizes the results of over 42,000 new vehicle owners. "The all-new Ram Heavy Duty pickups have earned the industry's top awards, driven in large part by the quality and refinements brought forward from the Ram 1500," said Doug Betts, Senior Vice President - Quality, Chrysler Group LLC. "It's clear that Ram Trucks have become the new benchmarks for the segment. "We're also proud of Nitro and the Dodge Brand," added Betts. The winners must perform well in 48 separate categories that objectively measure the ownership experience, says George Peterson, president of AutoPacific. "While the auto industry is showing signs of improvement, more than ever before, manufacturers need to be able to differentiate themselves. Proof of satisfied customers is as good as gold," Patterson said. "We've found that more than 25% of new car buyers are positively influenced by owner-based awards like the VSA when deciding on a new car or truck."

Four Wheeler Magazine Editors Name
Jeep(R) Wrangler Rubicon Best 4x4 Vehicle of the Decade

- Four-door Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon hailed as Most Significant 4x4 -

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Jan. 6 /PRNewswire/ --

  • Four Wheeler editors refer to creation of four-door Wrangler as "...one of smartest product moves any automotive company has ever made"
  • Jeep Wrangler Unlimited remains the only four-door convertible on the market
  • Four-door icon delivers class-leading off-road capability, everyday practicality and open-air fun
  • Recognition comes on the heels of Jeep brand being named Top Domestic Brand in Kelley Blue Book's kbb.com® 2010 Residual Value Study
  • Nearly 60 percent of Wrangler sales are four-door Wrangler Unlimited model

Four Wheeler magazine editors have named the Jeep® Wrangler Rubicon and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon the Best 4x4 Vehicle of the Decade, while calling out the four-door Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon as the decade's most significant 4x4 vehicle.

"Jeep vehicles have earned many awards in the almost 70-year history of the iconic brand, but few have been as prestigious as these accolades from the editors at Four Wheeler magazine," said Mike Manley, President and CEO - Jeep Brand, Chrysler Group LLC. "Jeep Wrangler Rubicon is clearly the most capable production vehicle on the planet, and in four-door Unlimited form, families can enjoy the combination of capability, freedom, space and comfort that only Jeep can provide."

In recognizing the 2007-present Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon as the Best 4x4 of the Decade, Four Wheeler magazine editor Doug McColloch said, "The JK (current version) Wrangler represented a big step up in on-road ride and handling for Jeep's flagship ride, yet it's off-road capability wasn't compromised in the least. If anything, it was only enhanced. Considering how competent in the dirt the previous-gen(eration) TJ was, that was no small feat for Chrysler engineers to pull off. But somehow they managed to do it, creating the decade's best four-wheel drive in the process."

In calling the 2007-present Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Rubicon the Most Significant SUV of the Decade, editor Sean Holman said, "(The decision to produce a four-door Wrangler) will probably go down in history as one of the smartest product moves any automotive company has ever made. From a Jeep customer perspective, the four-door was pure genius, opening up the sport of 'Jeeping' to families. No longer would you have to choose your kids or your gear. It also made the Jeep brand accessible to people who have always loved the idea of a Wrangler, but never thought the vehicles were large enough or functional enough to fit their lifestyle and/or needs."

Chrysler Group LLC Earns Four 2010 'Top Safety Picks'
From the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety

AUBURN HILLS, Mich., Nov 18, 2009 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ --

- 2010 Jeep(R) Patriot, 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 2010 Dodge Avenger and 2010 Dodge Journey named Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Picks

- Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Journey earn IIHS Top Safety Pick honors two years in a row for both the 2009 and 2010 model years

- Chrysler Group demonstrates continued leadership in occupant protection and overall vehicle engineering capability with almost 15 percent of the total IIHS 2010 Top Safety Picks

Four Chrysler Group LLC vehicles have earned 2010 Top Safety Pick Status. Chrysler Group announced today that the 2010 Dodge Journey, the 2010 Chrysler Sebring when equipped with available Electronic Stability Control (ESC), the 2010 Dodge Avenger when equipped with available ESC and the 2010 Jeep(R) Patriot with available seat mounted air bag, are 2010 Top Safety Picks according to the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS).

The Chrysler Sebring, Dodge Avenger and Dodge Journey have been awarded IIHS Top Safety Picks for both the 2009 and 2010 model years. The 2010 Jeep Patriot joins the trio in the highest possible rating from the nonprofit research organization.

For the 2010 model year, Chrysler Group products comprise
almost 15 percent of the total vehicles awarded Top Safety Pick status by the IIHS to automakers. The award recognizes automobiles with ESC that perform well in the Institute's front-impact, side-impact, rear-impact and new for 2010, roof-strength evaluations.

"With the addition of the Jeep(R) Patriot, Chrysler Group has received four Top Safety Picks in the 2010 model year -- a great accomplishment for our company," said Scott Kunselman, Senior Vice President -- Engineering, Chrysler Group LLC. "IIHS' recognition of our products underscores Chrysler Group's engineering capability and leadership in occupant protection."

The 2010 Jeep(R) Patriot, 2010 Chrysler Sebring, 2010 Dodge Avenger and 2010 Dodge Journey encompass a two-fold approach to safety -- passive features combined with accident-avoidance features. Available safety and security features on all four vehicles include ESC with traction control, Brake Assist and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), driver and front-passenger active head restraints, front seat-mounted side airbags and advanced multi-stage front airbags.

"Chrysler showed the most improvement of any automaker for 2010," said IIHS President Adrian Lund. "These Chrysler, Jeep(R) and Dodge models are part of an elite group that afford the best overall crash protection and have electronic stability control, which can help keep drivers out of crashes altogether."

Chrysler Group's four Top Safety Picks all feature the company's new active head restraint system for front-seat occupants. This new system augments the head restraints ability to minimize neck injuries caused by rear-impact accidents. In the event of a rear impact, the head restraints deploy to remove the space between the occupants head and the restraint to help minimize whiplash type injuries.

Praise for Town & Country from Autoweek

"This van is nothing short of miraculous in its ability to smoothly absorb miles and miles of highway without complaint," observed one editor who took the Town & Country on long road trips, first at break-in and then a year later as it ended its 32,761 miles and 12 months of heavy use. "Every single bit of this van still works like new, from the power doors and liftgates to the electronics systems, and from the triple-zone air conditioning to the Swivel'N Go seats, he noted.

The Autoweek staff didn't start out as fans of the minivan, but soon learned that they have much merit and declared that the Town & Country made them believers in Chrysler quality and Technology. "For a while there, I might have recommended the Honda or Toyota over the Chrysler, but not now," remarked one staffer.

Meet the All-New 2009 Dodge Ram in a MotorWeek Road Test

Ram Wins Again in a Head-to-Head Real World
Challenge Against Ford, Chevy and Toyota!!

The all-new Dodge Ram 1500 earned top honors in Edmunds' Inside Line head-to-head competition of full-size pickup trucks. The Dodge Ram 1500 beat the 2009 Ford F-150, Chevy Silverado and Toyota Tundra.

"After all the points were tallied, the Dodge Ram takes the win with a very well-rounded performance," wrote Dan Edmunds, Director of Vehicle Testing, Edmunds.com. "The optional RamBox proved itself useful by swallowing 85 pounds of greasy trailer hitch parts in its lockable bins, and its repositionable bed divider is easily the best of its kind."

Capability testing was conducted over two weeks of day-to-day use and included tow-testing, off-road driving and hill climbing. All test vehicles were crew cabs and included sunroof, navigation system and other convenience features. Trucks were tested against their claimed tow capacity, as well as a fixed-weight face-off in which each truck pulled an identical trailer up a test mountain.

"We knew from previous experience that the Ram's coil-spring rear suspension works well when the truck is unloaded, but this time we found it has the chops to handle a trailer, too,? wrote Edmunds' Inside Line. ?The Dodge Ram impresses us with a solid performance, an understated ability to tow the socks off some others, a feature-laden presentation and rugged good looks."

"Our all-new 2009 Dodge Ram is the best truck ever built," said Scott Kunselman -- Vice President Jeep/Truck Product Team, Chrysler LLC. "It is a game-changing, class-leading truck that is second to none. We are glad Edmunds' Inside Line agrees."

The 2009 Ram also includes the first-in-segment coil-spring five-link rear suspension fitted to a solid rear axle that provides ride and handling not found on any other pickup truck. A new 5.7-liter HEMI® V-8 engine with fuel-saving MDS technology provides more horsepower (390 hp) and torque (407 lb.-ft.) while its best-in-class aerodynamics (.387 Cd) improve fuel economy and performance.

In addition, the all-new 2009 Dodge Ram includes a first-in-segment, factory-installed four-inch dual exhaust styled dramatically into the rear bumper, first-in-segment store-in-the-floor storage bins, twice as many storage spots than the previous model and 35 safety and security technologies. Standard safety features include side-curtain air bags and Electronic Stability Control (ESC) which includes all-speed traction control, trailer sway control, hill-start assist and anti-lock brake system (ABS). Significantly upgraded interiors with a segment-first surround-sound audio system and live SIRIUS Backseat TV(tm) round out the interior.

Other premium amenities include first-in-segment heated and ventilated front seats, available heated rear seats, first-for-Chrysler heated steering wheel, one-touch up/down driver and passenger windows, automatic-on headlamps and dual-zone automatic temperature control--a first for Dodge Ram.

The all-new 2009 Dodge Ram 1500 Regular, Quad and Crew Cab models recently earned Five Star ratings for driver- and front-passenger protection in a frontal crash, the highest ratings in the U.S. government's safety crash test program.

The Dodge Grand Caravan Wins the
 2009 J.D. Power Reliability Award!!

To provide both auto industry and consumer audiences insights into the long-term reliability of today's new vehicles, the J.D.
Power and Associates 2009 Vehicle Dependability StudySM (VDS) focuses on problems experienced by original owners of three-year-old vehicles.

(2006 model-year vehicles). The study is used extensively by the world's auto manufacturers to help design and build better vehicles--which typically retain higher resale values--and by consumers to help make more-informed choices for both new and used vehicles.

The 2009 Vehicle Dependability Study provides information gathered from over 46,000 original owners. Performance is measured using a "problems per 100 vehicles (PP100)" metric. A lower PP100 score indicates better performance and a higher PP100 score indicates worse performance. Among the 12 models in the Van segment, the Caravan/Grand Caravan achieves an index score of 153 PP100 (problems per 100 vehicles), compared to the segment average of 196 PP100--a difference of 43 PP100. The 2009 study covers a total of 202 total problems, broken out into eight major problem categories as follows:

    • Exterior
    • The Driving Experience
    • Features/Controls/Displays
    • Audio/Entertainment/Navigation
    • Seats
    • HVAC
    • Interior
    • Engine/Transmission

Jeep Patriot Wins 2009 Top Safety Award

The Insurance Institute of Highway Safety has awarded the Jeep Patriot the top rating of "good" for its ability to withstand roof damage in rollover accidents.

It was the first time the safety watchdog group, which is funded by the insurance industry, has released vehicle ratings based on a new roof strength rating system. Only four of the twelve SUVs tested achieved this rating, which requires a vehicle to have a roof that can withstand a force of four times its weight before the roof crushes in by five inches.

2009 Jeep Patriot is Least Expensive SUV to Own

Edmunds.com declares the Jeep Patriot as the least expensive SUV to own.

The company based their results on projected model-specific average vehicle ownership costs, consisting of depreciation, financing, taxes, fees, insurance premiums, fuel costs, maintenance and repairs. The data is based on a five-year period of ownership.

"Even though gas prices are high, some consumers are still in search of a sport utility vehicle to meet their needs," said Jesse Toprak, Executive Director of Industry Analysis, Edmunds.com. "For those consumers, vehicles like the Jeep Patriot are relative bargains in their segments."

2009 Town & Country Honored With Two More Awards!
